The Wildcats went camping at William O'Brian State Park on the St. Croix River. The team engaged in kick ball, scavenger hunts, telling scary and embarassing stories, swimming, playing a small soccer tournament, and competing in the relay races. It was a great weekend! Thanks, Doug for planning everything!

Camp Ihduhapi
The team went to Camp Ihduhapi in the Pre-Season for some team bonding. They were challenged to overcome the Caterpillar Walk, the Ropes Course, the Balance Board, and more! It was a fun day, and everyone learned about the importance of the three C's: Concentration, Communication, and Cooperation!

St. Kate's vs. St. Thomas

Starters:
Bridget Berry
Kayla Engel

Brittani Deeb
Liesl Wolf
Megan Gosselin
Kaitlin Kramer
Gina Thorwick
Sam Levercom
Koletta Dorscher
Kelsey Nistler
Pre Game: We had a decent warm up, with a lot of focus on finishing. Nerves were building up as game time drew closer.
Game: The game started, and we found ourselves on our heels. St. Thomas had an early goal off a corner kick, and lucky goal close to halftime. We were down 2 to 0 at half, and we knew we should be doing better. With our minds focused on a win, we started the second half refocused. Unfortunately, UST scored again, and we were anxious to put one in the back of the net. We maintained good possession for the rest of the half and had some great chances to score, but we just couldn't find the net. The final score was 3 to 0, but there were some positives that came out of this loss.
Post Game: Everyone was upset that we didn't perform our best, but we now know what we need to do to up our game. We did a quick cool down, and we headed back to campus.
Next Up: Concordia on Wednesday 9/23 at home! We hope to see you there :D
Wildcat Invitational
St. Kate's vs. Clarke
Liesl Wolf scored less than two minutes into the championship game of the St. Catherine University soccer tournament to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately that is all the offensive scoring they could must, and after 110 minutes of play they left the field tied 1-1 with Clarke College.
Wolf's goal came after she picked up a loose ball in front of the net after Sam Levercom's shot was saved by the Clarke goalkeeper.
Clarke tied the score in the 34th minute of play, then for the next 76 minutes neither team could put any points on the board and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Wildcats record now stands at 3-1-1 as they head into conference play on Wednesday when they play at St. Thomas. The game is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
St. Kate's vs. Simpson
Date: 9/5/09
4 pm at Simpson
Crowd: 130
Weather:
According to the weather report, it was a fair 81 degrees. However, on the astroturf, it felt like a solid 93 degrees. The wind was going east to southeast at 10-16 mph, which wasn't enough to keep the team cool. It was extremely sunny, and much sunblock was applied (including Vaseline to prevent turf burns...thanks, Steve!).

Pre-Game:
On the bus with Barney, we enjoyed another episode of One Tree Hill and a soccer video from Toby (with a lot of shots of Cristino Ronaldo :D). We had a good warm up, quickly adjusting to Simpson's astroturf.
Game:
We had a rough start, going down a goal 20 minutes in the the game off of a corner kick. At half time, we refocused and realized what we needed to do to dominate. In the second half, we connected more passes, won balls in the air, and still maintained a solid defense. Even though we upped our game, we couldn't find the back of the net, losing 1-0.
Post Game:
Once again, we ate more pizza. On the five hour drive home, we watched Just Friends, which Steve thought was a, "good effort." After the movie, we continued to watch more One Tree Hill. We left the bus wondering if we will ever see Barney again. He will be missed. Him and his shinny shoes.
Next Up:
We play Buena Vista at 2 pm on Sept. 12. First home game of the season!!

Game versus Martin Luther College
Date: 9/1/09
Crowd: 73 Weather:
As we walked onto the field, laced up and ready to go, we felt the sun's rays on our backs, and the air was filled with anticipation. It was approximately 72.3 degrees, and a slight breeze (going west to east) at 3 mph blew through our jerseys and our locks of hair. We peered in the sky and noticed it was partly cloudy. Suddenly, we noticed something peculiar: a cloud in the shape of a lucky rabbit's foot, bring us good fortune.

Pre-Game:
On the way down, people either napped, watched Just Married, or talked/ Bridget and KP had a dance party. Our warm-up was decent. We jogged did static and dynamic stretching. We played possession and finished off our warm-up with some shooting.
Game:
We started the game with some really good possession and earned a quick goal by Claire Saunders. Claire and Kelsey were the leading scores with four and three goals, respectively. The final score was 11-0, and MLC only had one shot.
Post Game:
We had a good cool-down, grabbed some ice, and hopped back on the bus with Barney, the Bus Driver. We watched some One Tree Hill, Steve's new favorite teen drama. Regretfully, in the middle of the trip, someone let out some air contaminants that brought some to tears. After, we rushed off the bus at the Butler to get some fresh air. Also, we enjoyed some pizza, which hit the spot.
Next Up:
We are traveling down to Iowa to play Central Iowa on Friday and Simpson on Saturday.

Pre-Game:
The bus ride down was filled with episode after episode of One Tree Hill. Amazingly, the bus had WiFI, so people Facebooked it up. We didn't have the greatest of warm-ups, but we were ready to take on the Dutch.
Game:
Kaitlin Kramer started the scoring at 17 minutes with an amazing shot from outside the 18. With a lead of 1 to 0 at half, Steve gave us some quality pointers which resulted in four more goals in the second half. Megan Gosselin led the Wildcats with two goals and an assist. The defenses did a good job of limiting Central's opportunities to attack. They only allowed three shots off.
Post Game:
With another victory under our belts and with empty stomachs, we feasted at a local sports grill. After dinner, people went back to their hotel rooms and settled in for the night.
Special Event:
Ashley Whiting, a former Wildcat teammate, spent the weekend with the team. She is unable to play because of health issues, but she is still our BIGGEST supporter.
Thanks Ashley for a great weekend!
