FIRST TEAM OUTING!

The Wildcats made their way to Bemidji for a pre-season scrimmage. The opponents had been together for weeks and came out strong with speed, but not good enough to get the victory. The Wildcats were only together for a few days and by putting their athletic skills together for the first time they came out with a 2-2 tie against Bemidji. The following day after a tough practice the Wildcats had some serious team bonding. Starting out with a scavenger hunt, then Van vs. Van (Ming Ming vs. Lenny) in kick ball, intense games of horse shoes, canoeing, and the girls ended the night with Capture the Flag in the dark. Over all the trip brought the team much closer and helped them prepare for the 2010 season! Lets go Wildcats!

Game Reports

@ UW Stout October 18 2009

For the sixth time this season, the St. Kate's soccer team headed to overtime. Unfortunately that familiarity with the extra session did not help the Wildcats this time around as they fell to UW-Stout 3-2.
The Wildcats scored two quick first half goals and looked to be in great position for the win. Just 1:32 into the game Megan Gosselin picked up her fourth goal of the season off a corner kick to give St. Kate's a 1-0 lead.
Three minutes later it was another sophomore, Sam Levercom, who found the back of the net. Claire Saunders picked up the assist on Levercom's first goal of the season.
After an exciting first five minutes of play, the scoreboard did not change for the next fifty minutes. Early in the second half UW-Stout scored to make it 2-1. Then at the 73:23 mark of the game the Blue Devils tied the game at two.
At the 8:30 mark of overtime Stout scored their game winner on a header from a crossing pass in front of the Wildcats net.
St. Kate's is now 4-7-3 on the season. They return home on Wednesday October 21 to face UW-Superior.

Vs UW Superior October 21st 2009

The Wildcats soccer team beat the University of Wisconsin Superior 3-0 on a cold and rainy Wednesday afternoon at St. Catherine. St. Kate’s dominated, recording 41 shots while holding Superior to 2. In the first half, St. Kate’s dominated offensively and defensively, scoring 2 goals on 19 shots while not allowing the Yellowjackets to get a shot off. Kaitlin Kramer put the Wildcats on top, scoring the first goal at 19:50. Just over four minutes later Samantha Levercom put in a a great shot to give St. Kate’s a 2-0 lead into halftime. St. Kate’s kept the offensive pressure on the Yellowjackets in the second half, recording 22 shots and one goal. Kramer put in her second goal of the game, coming at 74:12 from a Kelsey Nistler corner kick.

The win brings the Wildcats record to 5-7-3. St. Kate’s travels to St. Olaf this Saturday, October 24, then returns home on Wednesday, October 28 to host Carleton at 3:30 P.M.

St. Kate's vs. St. Mary's U - Sept. 26

After a very solid game on Wednesday, consistency and confidence were the 2 items we were looking for. With a couple of injuries we had to change the starting line - up.

A very scrappy, but even game materialized. Neither team could control the ball or game and St. Kate's dropped to a lower playing level than is required to win games in our conference.
We had one of two small opportunities but failed to take them. Also a missed PK in the first half meant a 0-0 game at half.

St. Kate's stepped a gear in the second half but again failed to take any chances we had. Inevitably SMU took the one good chance they had and we left with nothing. A frustrating week, a very talented group but are just not getting the bounces that will get us the goals we deserve

The next game will see us play Hamline on Wednesday at 4pm in St. Paul

St. Kate's Vs Concordia - Sept 23, 2009

Crowd: 100

Date: September 23, 2009

Weather: It was a cloudless day with temperatures in the mid eighties. The temp was hot due to humidity.
Starters:
Bridget Berry
Kayla Engel
Kim Engel
Brittani Deeb
Liesl Wolf
Megan Gosselin
Kaitlin Kramer
Gina Thorwick
Christina Paik
Clare Saunders
Kelsey Nistler

Pre-game:
We had a really good warm-up. In the classroom we talked about been confident and how that will effect our game.

Game:
Concordia came out strong but we were ready to defend. For large portions of the game we were dominant in our possession. Bridget Berry made remarkable saves after another despite having a swollen eye from being hit in the face the day before. We battled it out for the full 90 min and with no goals we found ourselves in over time. Despite our hard work, Concordia score three minutes into the overtime.

Post game:
It was a close game and probable the best we played so far. There were a lot of positives that came out of the game. We disappointed in the loss. However, we felt proud of holding off one of the top 20 DIII teams in the nation for 93 minutes
